Lewis Clarke Returns

Wednesday 09 Jun 2021

We are very pleased to announce that Lewis Clarke has re-signed for the 2021-2022 season. 1st team manager Franklyn Clarke commented "Lewis came in last season and has been great with the young lads, Its important that the experienced players in the group set good examples for the younger ones and he certainly done that. Lewis returned to training and he looks like a new player; he`s clearly worked hard during the time we have had off. I think we will now get to see the best of him. Lewis has a lot to offer, he`s a real handful, no defender will have an easy time of it and he also knows where the back of the net is too. I`m hoping he hits the ground running once the games come around and scores lots of goals for Portland this season. Lewis is looking for a sponsor for this season. Sponsors names will be shown on our website with a link to their business where appropriate. Sponsors will also be shown in our home programmes and at the end of Echo reports - Still just £50.

Lowes Signs

Wednesday 09 Jun 2021

We are very pleased to announce that Ollie Lowes has re-signed for the 2021-2022 season. 1st team manager Franklyn Clarke commented, "I`m really happy Ollie has re-signed; his commitment is brilliant and he sets a real example. He is a big part of how we are going to play next season and I feel he has much to offer. Ollie has a lot of potential and the more games he plays for us the better he gets. Ollie is versatile which I like in a player. He`s outstanding technically and has been working hard away from the club on areas he wants to make better too. Ollie is a good character in the group and I believe he`s got a really good season ahead of him". Lewis is looking for a sponsor for this season. Sponsors names will be shown on our website with a link to their business where appropriate. Sponsors will also be shown in our home programmes and at the end of Echo reports - Still just £50.

Hutch Re-Signs

Wednesday 09 Jun 2021

We are very pleased to say that Harry Hutchinson has re-signed for the 2021-2022 season. Big thank you to Lawrence McCarthy Gates & Railings for their sponsorship this season of young Hutch. 1st team manager Franlyn Clarke commented, "Harry is a great lad who enjoys his football; he`s one who is always wanting to progress and work hard. Harry is another young lad we have who has a lot of potential; he`s left footed, a good size, moves well and also, importantly, technically good. Harry just needs games and someone to believe in him - which I do and he knows that. Harry`s looked very sharp and trained really well over the past month or so and I can see him really kicking on this season. He`s been at the club for a couple of seasons now and I think the Portland fans will see the best of him this coming season."

Satherley becomes club Ambassador

Wednesday 12 May 2021

We as a club committee are overjoyed that Robin has accepted the honour of becoming Portland United FC’s Club Ambassador. Whether Robin is at home, at the ground or just going about his daily work - he is everything that an Ambassador should be; the club is so obviously very special to him. We are extremely lucky to have such superb club people like Robin and Dave Camp (President) and other stalwarts who give so much time and effort and are still very active in continuing their great service to Portland United FC. For me personally as the new club Chairman, I feel very fortunate to have Robin’s knowledge to tap into and him always being available for wise words from years of experience which I’m so grateful for. I truly believe that the future of Portland United FC is bright and exciting especially with the addition of our new u 18 team; a very clear pathway of player development and a real willingness for us, as a club, to engage with the whole of the community. With Robin accepting this role and with others who continue to work so hard for this great club, I feel this will very much help us in achieving our goals and the club vision that has been set. Blues offer update on ground works

Tuesday 11 May 2021

PORTLAND United’s season may have been curtailed due to Covid-19 but the Blues are pressing ahead with more ground improvements. In April, Echosport reported on renovations to the main Butch Nash stand at the Camp & Satherley Stadium, plus work to install a metal staircase leading from the clubhouse bar. Since then, reseeding work has been undertaken by football pitch specialists Southern Ground Care to prepare the playing surface for next season. Meanwhile, the Blues are working with landowners near the stadium to boost training facilities. Speaking to Echosport, chairman Matt Lucas said: “Plans are afoot and there’s work going on on the pitch behind the ground. “The people who own that have been very promotive of the club using it. Work is being done so we can train on our own facilities there. “There’s also plans with regards to the bar, so lots of exciting things going forward. “We’re going to keep on going with the social media with Lin (McKechnie, committee member) and Justin Faulkner (reserves boss). “The main stand is being done as well, that’s really positive, work’s still going on there. “General maintenance work and a new staircase from the bar are still ongoing as well. “We’re going to be announcing a date where supporters can along and look after housekeeping work around the ground just to keep up on things and engage the community.”

Under 18’s Announcement

Portland Utd FC are very excited to announce that we have applied to join the Dorset Football U18 League for the 2021/22 season and we are now awaiting confirmation. Chairman hails 'amazing' vision for club

Friday 23 Apr 2021

PORTLAND United chairman Matt Lucas has revealed the Blues have a vision to become a community hub on the island. Lucas was last month appointed as successor to Portland legend and retiring chief Robin Satherley. Former Dorchester Town supremo Lucas, who led the Magpies’ for five years until 2019, is looking to build on the work undertaken by the Blues’ committee. Lucas admitted he has been “amazed” by plans drawn up by Portland’s volunteers. He told Echosport: “First of all, the welcome I’ve received has been immense. “I’m so excited and buoyed by the vision that the committee already had at Portland. “In many ways, I’m just looking to add some weight behind that vision and help implement the plans going forward. “I’m absolutely amazed by the workload that many volunteers do at the club. “One of the things I’m personally looking to do is build relationships and build on relationships within the local community to become a real hub and to promote the club to the Portland community. “The reasons why I’ve joined up is because I mirror that vision and stand for the type of vision they have going forward. I want to be part of it.” He added: “Everyone is very loyal at Portland and everyone is very encouraging. “I’ve not heard one adverse comment about what Portland United stand for. I was aware of that reputation when I was at Dorchester and it’s a real breath of fresh air. “I just enjoy being around that environment where everyone works hard for the club. “Everyone enjoys coming to watch their football on Portland and there’s a real togetherness. “That is such a great start to continue to build on when you’ve got everybody pulling together as one.”
