Browne ready for Brendon King's Hamworthy United

Wednesday 30th August 2017

PORTLAND United manager Simon Browne is preparing to face an old friend when the Blues take on Hamworthy United at Grove Corner in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier League tonight (7.45pm).

Browne will share the touchline with former colleague Brendon King, now Hamworthy manager, after the two worked together at Wimborne Town, and his assistant Mark Carter, who left the Blues a week before the season.

With the duo opposing each other for the first time, Browne is relishing the task and is hungry for a win.

He told Echosport: “A few people have said they are going to watch the interaction between myself and Brendon on the touchline. Brendon is a great mate of mine.

“He’ll be the opposition manager and I’ll try and get a result against him. After, we’ll probably share a drink! There will be a bit of banter.

“It’s also probably as close as we’re likely to get to a derby, it will be a great game.

“I want to win the game and I want the players to get stuck in to the opposition and get a good result,” he said.

Browne’s men are boosted by the return of Max Buckler from Dorchester Town, who stays on a “more permanent basis” while remaining dual-registered with the Magpies.
